The Discs The first disc, Trombonis Australis presents an all Australian program with works by Simon Wade, Phillip Bolliger, Nerida Tyson-Chew and two works by Michael Forsyth. Included are two works specifically written for the alto trombone.
The second in the series is Capriccio. It follows on from Trombonis Australis, by presenting a program of new Australian works by Micheal Irik and Eric Gross along with rarely heard European works for trombone and piano. Featured are recordings of the Bonneau Capriccio, Salzedo Piece Concertante and the Hindemith Sonata for alto horn performed on alto trombone. In
conjunction with the release of Capriccio a promotional disc of
Graham Powning’s Four Inequale, each of these four encore
pieces reflecting the composer’s renowned sense of humour
and presents a celebrated orchestral trombone passage in a light
hearted fashion, with some amusing rhythmic manipulation and harmonic
twists.
The
most recent Trombonis Australis Project album release has been
Harlequinade, which features solo and ensemble works by Michael
Forsyth.
Greg has also recorded for the JADE and MUSO’S MEDIA label with chamber and solo recordings of Australian repertoire. Jade’s most recent release involving brass has been Fading Light, which includes two works by Eric Gross - Cadenza
